Surabhi Goshala (a non-profit 501 C 3 ) organization was created in October 2024. The journey of protecting Bos Indicus cows started in 2018 during a visit to the Goshala in Kanchi Matham in South India. Several Go Dhanam were done between 2018 and 2020 in Mysore India. In November 2021 Surabhi (5 months old) was brought home from a farm in South Chandler. Gopala Sr. (6 months old) was brought home from a Cave Creek, AZ farm. The journey of Desi Gau Samrakshanam had started at 3251 S Eagle dr. in Chandler, AZ. In March 2021 Gopala Sr. deceased due to excruciating circumstances. Gonatha (6 months ) was brought home in April 2022 from the same Cave Creek, AZ farm.

Surabhi delivered her first baby (A Bull) in April 2023 and he was named Gopala (in memory of Gopala Sr.). Surabhi delivered her second baby (A Heifer) in May 2024 and she was named Nandhini. In Jan 2024 Laksmi (A Heifer) was brought from a Prescott, AZ farm as a partner for Gopala.

From 2020 to 2024 cows were nurtured by Sandeep, Vidya, Aksh and Anuj. Towards the end of 2024 upon the formation of Surabhi Goshala non profit, community started getting involved helping in daily cleaning and feeding as well as donations towards Gau Samrakshanam. In 2025 Gopala and Lakshmi will be donated to start a new Goshala at Mahaperiyava Mani mandapam in Flemington, New Jersey.

From 2020 to 2024, it was learning the basics of nurturing Desi Cows and building the infrastructure (sheds, fences, gates etc..). The cows became an integral part of the Iyer Family over these years.

End of 2024 was marked by the creation of a non profit and opening up the Goshala to like-minded people in the community. Local temple priests started performing Gau Pooja based on requests from the community.
